Managed by Virginia Tech Agroforestry in partnership with regional technical service organizations, the Catalyzing Agroforestry Grant Program (CAGP) is officially accepting proposals for its 2027 funding cycle.
The Catalyzing Agroforestry Grants Program (CAGP) is a competitive, rapid-resource distribution grants program for land owners, managers, and community land project coordinators who seek to establish or expand agroforestry on all or a portion of the land they own, manage, or coordinate.
CAGP provides on and off-site consultations from regional service providers and agroforesters, as well as direct financial reimbursement upon project completion to help producers establish or expand agroforestry systems on their farms or forestland. Supported practices include:
Field-based Agroforestry Practices: Alley Cropping, Riparian Forest Buffers, Silvopasture, Urban Food Forests, and Windbreaks.
Forest-based Agroforestry - Forest Farming: Cultivating shaded understory crops.
Eligible expenses include site preparation, purchasing planting stock, equipment rental, tree protection, and contractor fees.
