What species & products are being grown or produced in the agroforestry demo?

Coppice Wood: willow for basketry, other building material and biomass using a wide array of PA native plant species. ex. Sturdy Garden Stakes (Hazelnut & chestnut), Live Willow/Poplar Stakes, Biochar (Any wood), Charcoal (Any wood), Firewood ( Chestnut/Locust), Fence posts (chestnut/locust)

Live Stakes: a wide array of PA native species including: Black Willow, Red-osier Dogwood, Speckled Alder, Silky Dogwood, Speckled Alder, American Sycamore, Buttonbush, Common Hackberry, Bitternut Hickory, Tulip-poplar, American Hazelnut, Arrowwood, Black Gum
Black Locust, Blackhaw Viburnum, Eastern Redbud, Elderberry, Flowering Dogwood, Grey Birch, Grey Dogwood, Honey Locust, Nannyberry, Pin Oak, Quaking Aspen, Red Oak, River Birch, Sandbar Willow, Silver Maple, Sweet Gum, Sycamore, Yellow Birch

Edible agroforestry products: American hazelnut, persimmon, pawpaw, elderberry, Chokeberry/ Aronia, Highbush Blueberry, Black Walnut, Crabapple, Red Mulberry, Spicebush, Washington Hawthorn, Downy Hawthorn, Serviceberry, Raspberry

farm stand, CSA - while we are interested in developing markets for agroforestry products, education and demonstration is our main focus.

Yes - we offer training programs as well as tours, classes & workshops

What are your future plans?

Develop an agroforestry training program, support learning around agroforestry to both producers and consumers, develop agroforestry classes & workshops, support the development of the industry in PA as opportunities arise
