Agroforestry Practices Supported

WSU Extension is comprised of county-based and regional agents located throughout Washington State, many of which are exploring and shaping agroforestry practices for the Pacific Northwest. Although there is not a dedicated agroforestry program, Extension agents working in forestry, agriculture, livestock management, food systems, and other related programs have folded agroforestry into their work. For example, WSU Extension Forestry is developing forest farming research and resources, and creating opportunities for income from forested riparian buffers. Other Extension agents are exploring conservation grazing and silvopasture practices, alley cropping for soil health, and multi-functional hedgerows and windbreaks. To learn more about what WSU Extension is doing in agroforestry near you, contact your local Extension office.
