SilvoCulture is a nonprofit founded in 2019 in Frederick, Maryland, with a mission to cultivate a regional food supply chain centered on perennial nut and fruit trees. We aim to plant one million nut trees in the Mid-Atlantic by 2030 as a response to climate change, economic instability, and the need for regional food security. Through agroforestry project implementation, food forests, and technical support, SilvoCulture empowers communities to grow a more resilient and regenerative future.

SilvoCulture partners with landowners across the Mid-Atlantic to design and implement agroforestry projects that support healthy ecosystems, productive landscapes, and long-term stewardship. We work with landowners to identify the best planting and funding opportunities for their property and guide them through the process from planning to implementation.
Current Planting Programs:
Edible Ecosystems for Healthy Watersheds: Available to qualified Maryland landowners, this program supports the installation of food forest plantings that improve water quality, increase ecological function, and create edible landscapes. Project funding covers both installation and two years of maintenance.
Catalyzing Agroforestry Grant Program (CAGP) in the Mid-Atlantic Region: SilvoCulture serves as a regional partner for CAGP, helping landowners across the Mid-Atlantic access technical support and funding opportunities for agroforestry implementation. This program supports a range of practices designed to improve land productivity, resilience, and environmental outcomes.
Additional Landowner Support: SilvoCulture also researches and connects landowners to additional funding opportunities, grants, and cost-share programs that may better match their goals, geography, and land characteristics.
