ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) is a nonprofit based in Asheville, North Carolina, serving the Southern Appalachian region (WNC, East TN, Southwest Virginia, North Georgia, and Upstate SC). Our mission is to help local farms thrive, link farmers to markets and supporters, and build healthy communities through connections to local food. ASAP has more than 20 years of local and regional food systems experience in Southern Appalachia.

ASAP's Local Food Campaign provide's free 1:1 consultations to farmers with: marketing, market outlet connections, financial planning, business planning, and access to capital (grants and loans) needs. Consultations can take place on farm, at the ASAP office, virtually, or by phone, whatever is your preference. ASAP also offers stand alone workshops, as well as an annual Business of Farming Conference (February of each year), across these farm business topics.
Currently, ASAP offers a grant program to allow farms to meet with a lawyer (1 hour per farm) and/or a CPA (up to 10 hours per farm) at no cost. Additionally, ASAP has a 75% marketing cost share for farms located in Western North Carolina. ASAP also hosts an annual Farm Tour (September of each year), which connects roughly 3000 attendees to 20 participating farms.
ASAP has both a print and online Local Food Guide which promotes local farms and food within it's 60 county service region. The online Local Food Guide is completely free to be in, and is a great way to increase your farm's online presence, and market your farm business.
