Agroforestry Practices Supported

UC SAREP is a statewide program of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources. It mobilizes resources for applied research and education to address knowledge gaps for environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable cropping systems, including agroforestry and others, with a focus on California. In agroforestry, UC SAREP provides science-based guides, videos, and webinars for producers and extension professionals on cultivation methods, marketing, and food safety, with a particular focus on western blue elderberry grown in biodiversity-enhancing features such as field-edge hedgerows (since 2017), cover cropping in orchards and vineyards, and grazing in orchards and vineyards. We also conduct needs assessments and assist in the coordination of the California Agroforestry Network.
